International Recognition For Australian Drag Racing Legend

Thank you for all the emails and phone calls that we have received since the announcement of my induction into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in the United States this week.

I was dumbfounded when I received a personal email from Don Garlits informing me that I was an inductee. But since the announcement has been documented on the various web sites in the United States and Australia my family and I have been inundated with messages of congratulations.

I commenced drag racing back in 1966 to prove that my EH Holden work ute was the ‘quickest around’ and now many years later that simple quest to have the best and quickest vehicle has never left me.

I have seen many changes within the sport over the years and have seen many racers come and go.

I’m proud to watch my sons and grandsons enjoy the sport of drag racing at our home track in Sydney, along with many other families that have also continued to carry on the sport of drag racing with their children and grandchildren.

Together with the support of the family and my wife Denise, I will accept this award in Florida USA next March for all the Australian drag racers that enjoy our sport and want to be the ‘quickest around’.
